Tom is a life sciences communications executive with more than 15 years of international leadership in mission-driven biopharma environments. He brings a rare combination of scientific fluency, corporate communications expertise, and extensive experience navigating the intersection of private innovation and venture capital. Throughout his career, Tom has served as a trusted advisor to executives, management, investors and global life science innovators, specialising in distilling complex science into highly differentiated corporate narratives and managing complex stakeholder considerations.
During 10 years working in the heart of biotechnology innovation in Boston, Massachusetts and as the founder of an international advisory firm based in the UK, he directed the public launches of stealth-stage biotechnology companies and communications programs for both private and public biopharmaceutical companies in the Unites States and Europe. He has spearheaded comprehensive branding transformations and managed the communication blueprints for medical milestones of global significance in a wide range of disease areas and modalities, including gene and cell therapies, RNA-targeted medicines, and a variety of small molecule approaches.
Tom holds a Master of Bioscience Enterprise (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from the University of Auckland. He is originally from Hong Kong and has lived in seven countries.
